2 Primary Steps For Taking Care Of Your Patio Pavers

A few years ago, I started looking into different ways to make my yard look a lot better. I realized that our entire driveway needed to be renovated and the sidewalk needed to be fixed, so I started looking into different paving solutions. I began talking with different contractors around the area about fixing the concrete, and before I knew it, I was working with true professionals who understood what we were faced with. They took their time, did the job right, and really made our yard stand out. This blog is totally dedicated to paving to improve your home.

Pavers can make your patio look fashionable and sophisticated if you take proper care of them. Applying a sealant to your patio pavers once a year and then sweeping and rinsing off your patio pavers on a regular basis is the best way to take care of your patio pavers.

#1 Apply A Sealer Once A Year

To keep your patio pavers in the best condition possible, you are going to want to seal them once a year. Sealing your pavers prevents stains and dirt from leaching into the porous stones. Stains and dirt can degrade your patio pavers over time.

Stone sealant provides a protective coat to your pavers that make it easier to clean them off by washing them down with water. Stone sealant also makes your pavers look nice and shiny, giving them a more polished look.

It is relatively easy to apply sealant to your pavers. First, you need to clean your pavers. Then, just use a brush or roller to apply the sealant. Finally, allow the sealant to dry and cure before walking on your pavers again.

#2 Lightly Clean On A Regular Basis

Keep your pavers looking great by lightly cleaning them on a regular basis. If you keep up with cleaning your pavers, they should not require deep cleaning.

Sweep your pavers or use a blower on a bi-weekly basis to remove loose debris and dirt that accumulate on your pavers. If you are using your patio heavily, sweep or blow it off at least once a week.

Next, it is a good idea to rinse off your pavers a couple of times a month as well. Rinsing your pavers off with water after you sweep your patio pavers is the best way to ensure that your patio pavers are as clean as possible.

You don't need to use a pressure washer to clean your pavers; a regular garden hose with a spray nozzle will work just fine. Start in the middle of your pavers and spray them with water outwards to the edge, so you move the dirt off your pavers.

Pressure washing is only necessary if mold or moss is present on your pavers. If you clean your pavers on a regular basis, mold and moss should not grow on your pavers. However, if mold and moss are present on your pavers, use a bleach solution in your pressure washer to kill and remove the mold and moss from your pavers.

Keep your patio pavers looking great by sealing them once a year and cleaning them on a regular basis. Contact a company like Paving Stone of San Diego for more information and assistance.
